![]() Or another example is a quick task I’m currently monitoring for payroll preparation each fortnight. eg., “Prepare directors papers” is not a calendar item, but rather a task on a project where I can add information I need during the month. Now David Allen might say I’m overly reliant on dates, but I use tasks tied to projects on a recurring basis. pages that can query tasks and show me what’s outstanding up to and including today without me needing to shift any of yesterday’s tasks’ to accomodate.Ībsolutely a GTD approach.tasks appear on the project page they belong to. ![]() Got a lot of things worked out, but not yet tasks. Never really did like the date formatting of January 27th, 2021 though.įor reasons aplently I started with Obsidian over the weekend. Roam’s backlinking then would just pull everything in. With Roam and some plugins, it became very easy to have projects and tasks on the same page, and then use the Roam Toolkit plugin to quickly adjust dates eg, CTRL-ALT-UP add a day, CTRL-ALT-PGUP add a week. I also think a process like this can be set up in Workflowy to categorize and search for other numerical ranges as well, such as perhaps, various scores, ratings or measures on a common scale.I had been an Omnifocus user for many, many years and like others above found the swapping between not only between apps, but often between platforms too much of a hassle. Each individual can adapt the software to fit his/her own unique situation in life, rather than forcing himself to fit the constraints of the software developer. And to me, that shows the beauty of this software. There are many ways one can date tasks in Workflowy. Of course this approach may depend on how one dates their tasks in Workflowy. That's useful if I have a big project coming up that needs my time, or perhaps if I'm going on vacation during an upcoming range of dates. I can search for dated tasks using " -*** *' to find any range I wish, of lower-priority tasks, then use the Workflowy 'F/R 'Find & Replace' bookmarklet, to move all those less important tasks to any future date as a group. I also use the 'NOT' search function, to follow David Allen's GTD technique and 'clear the decks' of my upcoming calendar, by delaying my dated tasks that are least important. So all that remains are my very few most important task(s). ![]() ![]() From my home page I just start typing Asterisks into the Search bar, and my lesser important tasks start to disappear.Īnd my thousands of other bullets (such as reference notes) also disappear. That way, I can use the search function to sort by numerical values, such as, priority of the task.Īnywhere in my Workflowy file, I can quickly search to see my most important upcoming tasks, such as most important tasks due the next day, next week, next month, etc. As an example, I prioritize my tasks in importance by using '*' (asterisks) so that my least important tasks have just 1 asterisk, and my very few most important tasks (just a small handful) have 9 asterisks. ![]() But as to numerical values: a poorboy solution I do is to identify various tasks in my Workflowy with infrequently used symbols. I don't have any solution to your time (chronology) question. time & dates, such as in your example) - or also, to numerical values, such as priority. I'm not clear from your original question 2 months ago, whether you intended "value" and the ' =" capabilities to apply only to chronology (e.g. ![]()
